Photographing the Speeches
Traditionally, though not all of the time, the speeches follow the meal. These are a tremendous part of the story of the wedding day.
When that moment arrives for someone to do their speech (probably a moment they had been thinking of throughout their meal) the last thing they will want is a photographer right in their face. We cover the speeches very discreetly, not focusing on the person speaking, but on all of the reactions around the room to what is being said, it’s these reactions that tell the story and last as constant reminders of what was being said. Yes of course we do capture photographers of those making speeches but done in a way that they do not know its happening and therefore doesn’t distract or add a further pressure.
Speeches always yield some beautiful and funny shots, the bride looking up towards her new husband with a tear in her eye or laughing at Dad, the groom burying his head in his hands as his “best man” totally embarrasses him, or when the best man brings out the photos of the groom as a school boy. Fantastic moments, full of stories with your photographs acting as brilliant reminders of what was said.
